These pieces were first used during the 2013 World Championship match in Chennai, India between Magnus Carlsen and Vishy Anand.
⤀ The official set was created by Daniel Weil, a famous architect and designer from Pentagram studio in London. The appearance of the works combines tradition with modernity. The author is based on the proportions of ancient Greek architecture and the immortal Staunton style. The white parts were made of boxwood, the black ones - of luxurious ebony.
